Take a Class at Monmouth University – Service Learning Partnership between Monmouth University and SCAN
SCAN Members will have the exceptional opportunity to attend a Human Aging class alongside college students.
This unique intergenerational class, taught by Professor Sue Polito, a Geriatric Nurse Practitioner and faculty
member of the School of Nursing and Health Studies, benefits everyone as students and the SCAN Members
collaborate to learn about the human aging process.

SCAN students MUST attend class for 6 sessions on a Wednesday and Friday from 10:05am to 11:25am.
ï‚· Sept 25, Sept 27 – Musculoskeletal System (includes age-related changes and disorders to muscles and skeletal
system, joint replacements, mobility issues)
ï‚· Oct 23, Oct 25 – Sensory System (age-related issues to vision, hearing, taste, and smell)
ï‚· Nov 20, Nov 22 – Medication Management (older adults reactions to drugs, over the counter, generic, adverse
drug reactions, attitudes towards pill popping)
ï‚· Dec 6 (10:05am to 11:25am) Celebration party and certificates awarded
